Acupuncture Insurance Coverage and Reimbursement

South Jersey Sports Acupuncture is an out-of-network provider.

*** PRIOR TO TREATMENT – Make sure you contact your healthcare provider and:

1- let them know that you want to work with an out-of-network practitioner

2- ask them how much you will be reimbursed and

3- what your coverage entails.

The good news is:

– You can get reimbursed for your treatments

The bad news is:

– There really isn’t any

What to expect:

1- You will get your acupuncture treatment.

2- You will pay for the treatment with cash, check or charge.

3- You will be given everything you need to get reimbursement from your insurance company.

4- You will receive a check for your treatment in the mail from your Insurance Company.

After your treatment, you will be given a receipt and a superbill to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement.

What is a superbill? – it’s an itemized form that health practitioners fill out to prove the service(s) they provided. The completed form is given to the patients so that they (the patients) can submit it to their health insurance agency for reimbursement. This form is especially helpful for patients that have insurance coverage but their health practitioner is not on any insurance panels or an out-of-network provider.

** Superbills can also be used to receive reimbursement from your HSA.
